How I handled my career in Real Estate during one of the hardest years of my personal life.

2024 was a year marked by both incredible adventures and profound challenges. One of the brightest highlights was the opportunity to travel with my family multiple times this year. Each trip was a treasure, with every new adventure building on the joy of the last. These moments allowed us to create lasting memories, deepening our bonds and filling our hearts with gratitude. We had the opportunity to travel as a family three times in 2024- Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for Spring Break, Boston, Massachusetts and Providence Rhode Island for the summer, and our most recent trip was ringing in 2025 at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, spending the winter in Tennessee.

However, the year wasn’t without its difficulties. Several members of our immediate family faced severe health challenges, requiring treatments, surgeries, and extended hospital stays. Witnessing loved ones endure such trials was heart-wrenching and served as a stark reminder of life’s unpredictability. Through it all, I learned a significant life lesson: sometimes, things are simply beyond our control, and it’s okay to acknowledge the hardship.
What was going on with Mechling Group?
Professionally, 2024 brought exciting milestones and rewarding growth. One of my proudest achievements was co-listing the second-highest property in the MLS with my Broker, Rob Allen, when we listed River’s Edge for sale at $16,000,000- a testament to the trust and collaboration within our team. Additionally, I successfully completed my Leadership Training with the Edmond Board of Realtors through their Edmond Leaders of Tomorrow Accelerate Class. This experience not only honed my leadership skills but also expanded my professional network. Another highlight was increasing my Average Homes Sold Price, reflecting my commitment to delivering exceptional value to my clients. I look forward to serving those as your chosen Oklahoma City Realtor.

Yet, challenges emerged, particularly when family emergencies coincided with critical listing dates. These moments tested my ability to balance personal responsibilities with professional commitments. Despite these obstacles, I found strength by leaning into the guidance and support of the incredible leadership and staff at my brokerage. Their encouragement and expertise helped me navigate the year’s hurdles and grow in resilience and adaptability.
As the new year begins, I am already feeling the positive momentum 2025 has to offer. I am honored to serve on the Edmond Leaders of Tomorrow Committee, where I can contribute to shaping the future of our industry and community. Additionally, I’ve been invited to join the Midwest City Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee, a role that allows me to further my passion for service and community development. And last but definitely not least, it’s an honor to be on a team with the best real estate bestie and teammate a girl could ask for! Madisen Martin has proved year after year that growing together everyday in our careers and cheering each other on every step of the way is a privilege!!

Serving others is a source of immense joy for me, and I am eager to continue supporting my clients and community in meaningful ways throughout the coming year. With a renewed sense of purpose and optimism, I look forward to the opportunities and growth that 2025 will bring.
Sincerely,
Shay
